Claire Williams returns to Williams fold as WAE brand ambassador

A member of the Williams family has returned to the fold as Claire Williams becomes a brand ambassador for WAE Technologies.
The legendary Williams Formula 1 team, which joined the grid back in 1977, was owned by the Williams family all the way through until 2020.
At that stage, the team, struggling financially, was sold to American investment firm Dorilton Capital, who have kept the team name intact.
And while Claire, who served as deputy team principal, will not be getting back involved with the Formula 1 team, she has returned to her Williams roots via WAE Technologies, which seeks to bring Williams F1 technology to the commercial market and push for a decarbonised future.
The organisation is now owned by Fortescue, one of the world’s largest iron producers which is based in Australia.
And in her role, Claire will act as a spokesperson for WAE Technologies and their mission.
“I am hugely honoured to be taking up this new role with WAE Technologies,” she said.
“What Craig [Wilson, WAE Technologies CEO] and the team have achieved in a relatively short time frame has been phenomenal; using race-bred technology to revolutionise industries across the world.
“Sustainability has always been at the core of the business, and for me personally, I am committed to maximising technology for the benefit of all to create a greener tomorrow.
“I fully share the vision of Fortescue and Andrew Forrest’s global green strategy and am excited to join at this very important time.”

Wilson added: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Claire Williams as brand ambassador for WAE Technologies.
“Claire’s experience in motorsport, combined with her understanding of the benefits of race-bred technology transfer makes her very well-placed to support our future plans.
“As we enter an exciting new phase under Fortescue’s ownership, she will bring enormous value in raising the profile of our collective goal of making the world a greener place through the application of winning technology to decarbonise the industry.
