The fatal accident bore resemblance to a similar accident that claimed the life of Formula 2 racer Anthoine Hubert at the 2019 Belgian Grand Prix, which happened at the preceding corner on the circuit.

Van’t Hoff had made his single-seater racing debut in 2021, beaten by Enzo Trulli in the Formula 4 UAE winter series before dominating the following year’s Spanish F4 series.

He made the switch to Formula Regional by Alpine in a full-time capacity, he stayed with the MP Motorsport team that had helped him deliver the F4 title.

“We are so sad to learn of the passing of Dilano van ‘t Hoff today at Spa-Francorchamps,” said F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali.

“Dilano died in pursuit of his dream to reach the pinnacle of motorsport. Along with the entire motorsport community, our thoughts are with his family and loved ones.”
