Marcus Ericsson hopes Charles Leclerc “kicks some ass” when he races for Ferrari next season, after all, that would look good for the Swede.
Ericsson and Leclerc were team-mates at Sauber this season in what was the Monaco driver’s rookie campaign.
While Leclerc managed 39 points to Ericsson’s nine, the latter found his feet in the second half of this season and the battle was more even than the points suggest.
But while Leclerc’s efforts in 2018 earned him a promotion to Ferrari, Ericsson’s days in Formula 1 have reach their conclusion with the Swede off to IndyCars for 2019.
He is, however, intent on keeping an eye on his former team-mate’s progress.
He told RaceFans: “I will be very interested to follow Charles in Ferrari.
“I think he can do really well already next year.
“And of course if he does really well it will be good for me because it will reflect very good on me.
“So let’s hope he kicks some ass over there!
“I think he will be interesting to follow, I’m pretty sure he will do very well.”
