Ferrari's Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz at the Hungarian Grand Prix. Budapest, July 2022.

Carlos Sainz topped the timesheets as Formula 1 returned to action with the start of the Belgian Grand Prix weekend.

The Ferrari man beat out his team-mate Charles Leclerc by 0.069 seconds while Red Bull’s Max Verstappen finished P3.

There was a number of problems for drivers with Esteban Ocon seeing his session ended early on before Kevin Magnussen caused a red flag.

As a result, the session was brought to a halt for a lengthy stop as Magnussen’s car had suffered an electrical issue, making it very difficult for the car to be moved safely.
