F1 2023 results: FP1 timings from Canadian Grand Prix practice
A view of Turns 1 and 2 at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Montreal June 2023.
FP1 for the Canadian Grand Prix was something of a non-event for all involved, with only installation laps completed by the drivers.
Pierre Gasly’s Alpine pulled over with an issue early on in the session, but a CCTV problem as diagnosed by the FIA, which it claimed was due to an issue from ‘local infrastructure’, brought out the red flag with only a few minutes having elapsed.
The clock kept ticking on, but the drivers were not allowed back out of the pit lane again for the remainder of the session – leading to FP2 starting 30 minutes prior than planned at 4.30pm local time [9.30pm UK], and will run for 90 minutes to try and make up for lost time.
