Here are the complete results from the first practice session at Marina Bay ahead of this weekend’s Singapore Grand Prix.

Ferrari have had a very strong first session in Singapore, with Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz claiming a 1-2 in the opening 60-minute session.

There were four teams in the top five in what was a competitive opening practice session, with Ferrari, Red Bull, McLaren, and Mercedes all getting a time close to the top.

Lizards affect the track time during FP1 in Singapore

Unusually, there were three separate yellow flags during the hour, as big lizards – apparently three different creatures rather than one determinedly chaotic individual – decided to cross the track at their leisure.

The first time it happened resulted in some levity from the drivers, with the radio messages from the drivers showing their amusement – Max Verstappen referring back to his infamous incident with a giant lizard in 2016 as race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase labelled the interloper as ‘Godzilla’s kid’.

But, with a further two interruptions at the same location over the next 30 minutes, the amusement ebbed away as Verstappen said “Can these marshals not pay attention to this animal? Jesus Christ.”

It’s also not clear whether all three lizards survived their excursions.

Verstappen proved the closest competitor to the two Ferraris, slotting in just over a tenth down on Leclerc and Sainz, just ahead of McLaren’s Lando Norris and Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton.
