Carlos Sainz made it back-to-back pole positions as he put his Ferrari in P1 for the Singapore Grand Prix, while Red Bull had a nightmare.

While Sainz had positioned himself perfectly through Q2 and his opening Q3 effort to clinch pole at Marina Bay, he had to withstand a late scare from Mercedes’ George Russell for that P1 spot.

Russell was able muscle Sainz’s Ferrari team-mate Charles Leclerc off the front row, so let us take a look at the 2023 Singapore Grand Prix grid in full.

Red Bull fail to make Q3 in Singapore

Only 0.072s split polesitter Sainz and Russell, with the gap to Leclerc, who will head row three, a mere 0.007s as the top three were covered by 0.079s.

Lando Norris will join Leclerc on row two in his upgraded McLaren, while Russell’s Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton heads row three with Haas’ Kevin Magnussen for company.

Fernando Alonso will launch from P7 in his Aston Martin, just ahead of Esteban Ocon on row four.

Haas’ Nico Hulkenberg and Liam Lawson, the latter knocking Red Bull’s runaway Championship leader Max Verstappen out in Q2, complete the top 10 on the Singapore Grand Prix grid.

Verstappen then heads row six with former team-mate, Alpine’s Pierre Gasly for company, while row seven sees Sergio Perez in the other Red Bull start alongside Alex Albon.

AlphaTauri’s Yuki Tsunoda leads row eight alongside Alfa Romeo’s Valtteri Bottas, while behind them it is Oscar Piastri in the McLaren ahead of Williams’ Logan Sargeant on row nine.

Alfa Romeo’s Zhou Guanyu starts P19 while Lance Stroll will bring up the rear, after thankfully walking away unharmed from a terrifying shunt in his Aston Martin at the end of Q1.
