Fans will be able to have their say on the three helmet designs which Alfa Romeo’s Valtteri Bottas will use at the Miami Grand Prix.

After overcoming several instances of opposition from locals, the Miami Grand Prix is now full steam ahead as it prepares to debut on the Formula 1 calendar.

The race weekend at the Miami International Autodrome kicks-off on Friday May 6, running through to the first-ever race day in Miami on May 8.

And you may well notice that Bottas will be sporting a different helmet design on each of those three days.

In partnership with Alfa Romeo’s sponsor Socios, the app that offers Fan Tokens, the initiative is already underway with fans now able to cast their votes, which will lead to Bottas using the most popular design on race day, the second-highest scorer in qualifying and the helmet with the third-most votes in practice.

Fans must have a $SAUBER Fan Token to take part in the vote. The poll opened on April 26 on the Socios app.

Bottas has made a very positive start to the 2022 campaign and life at Alfa Romeo, finishing P5 at his most recent outing, that being the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at Imola.

The Finn would likely have finished P4 if it was not for a very slow pit stop, that ultimately proving to be lost time which he could not overcome, despite attacking his Mercedes replacement George Russell in the closing stages.

Bottas has scored 24 points so far this season, but that could easily have been more, not only due to that slow Imola stop, but also when taking into account his retirement at the Saudi Arabian GP and a setup error in qualifying at Albert Park, which caused him to be eliminated in Q2 and left him out of position for the start.

Bottas’ rookie team-mate Zhou Guanyu has also made a steady start to life in Formula 1, scoring a single point so far.
