Felipe Massa and Timo Glock are set to team up at Interlagos, a track which will forever bind the duo in the Formula 1 history book.

It was back in 2008 when Massa went into his home race, the Brazilian Grand Prix at Interlagos, with the opportunity to become World Champion.

Lewis Hamilton was also looking to take the title for himself in the changeable conditions, but as the race neared its conclusion, it was Massa who looked set to take the crown.

Further rain late on complicated matters though, with Toyota’s Glock staying out on dry tyres and losing significant pace as a result. Due to the preparations for Massa’s seemingly imminent title win, it had become impossible to pit.

Massa crossed the line to win the race as the celebrations begun, but Hamilton would pass Glock in the final few corners, taking P5 and with it claiming the points needed to become World Champion for the first time.

It was not until 2021 that Glock and Massa got the chance to meet again in front of the Sky F1 cameras and discuss what went down at Interlagos, where Glock said that some people still believe it was an intentional act on his part.

Massa made it clear that at no stage did he believe Glock had done such a thing, while expressing sympathy for the backlash which Glock faced that still continues.

It seems fitting then that we will now get the opportunity to see this pair fighting for the same cause, as they tackle the upcoming Brazilian Stock Car Pro Series doubles race at Interlagos.

The race will take place on Sunday 13 February, with Glock and Massa to compete in the #19 Chevrolet Cruze run by the Lubrax Podium team.

As quoted by Motorsport.com, Massa said: “I had this idea at the end of last year, after we met at the Brazilian GP.

“I shared it with my sponsors, who soon agreed. Besides what it means to form a team with Timo within the entire context of motorsport, it is clear that we are also looking for a positive result.

“I am already in direct contact with him, passing on all possible information.”

Glock responded: “I’m very happy to be able to go to Sao Paulo and be Felipe’s partner in the Stock Car. It will be exciting and a very special weekend for me.

“I follow the Stock Car championship. You can see that it is a difficult car to drive, but Felipe has already sent me some onboard camera images, so that I can understand the car. It will be a lot of fun, because the championship has ‘big names’ and many fast drivers. I hope I can drive fast too.”
