Ferrari have taken to social media to tell their fans to “save the date” of 17 February for the launch of their 2022 challenger.
After two seasons of running what was effectively the same car, but with a host of updates, Ferrari along with their rival teams will introduce a brand new car for the 2022 season.
That’s because Formula 1 is entering a new era that has seen the sport completely overhaul the cars and embrace ground-effect aerodynamics in that hope that it will produce closer racing.
Ferrari will take the covers off their 2022 car on February 17, the team announcing that with one month to go “the countdown has started, save the date”.

Last week details emerged about the new car, Formu1a.uno reporting that there is a “more aggressive nose design” planned with the Scuderia having also adopted a “pull-rod configuration on the front suspension” which would be “in stark contrast to the push-rod suspension geometry seen on the previous single-seaters”.
The decision, reports the Italian website, has been “largely directed by aerodynamics” as the “pull-rod configuration allows the flow to be redirected towards the bottom of the car and straight into the cooling inlets, which should also be lower, all matched by a more compact rear end thanks to the cooling ‘gills’ allowed by the new regulations”.
Ferrari is the second team to announce when it will be launching its car ahead of the new season with Aston Martin revealing last week that it would unveil the AMR22 on 10 February.
Ferrari did not reveal the name of their 2022 car in Monday’s tweet with it for now going under the moniker ‘Project 674′.
Although the Italian stable finished the 2021 Constructors’ Championship in third place, the Scuderia went without a single win for the second year in succession, Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc managing five podiums between them.
Ferrari are hoping that 2022’s all-new start will allow them to take on Red Bull and Mercedes for the World titles.
“I feel that people are excited,” said Sainz. “They have seen that Ferrari has the ability to turn a bad year around,” said Sainz.
“They have seen that I came to Ferrari to fight, not to do what some people thought.
“I see the fans looking forward to next season. That opportunity that the change of regulations can give us. The objective is to aspire to world championships because this is Ferrari.”
