Pierre Gasly has described the upcoming Monaco Grand Prix as the “toughest challenge” of the season due to the very little margin for error.
The Frenchman was excellent at his first race weekend in Monte Carlo since joining Formula 1, reaching Q3 and bringing home points for Toro Rosso in P7.
But Gasly, now getting ready for his first Monaco race for Red Bull, knows previous form can count for little at this unique track, which he has described as one of his favourite venues but also one of the most dangerous.
“It’s a lot tougher to do the perfect lap in Monaco,” Gasly told Mobil 1 The Grid.
“The risks you are going to have to take, the consequences are a lot bigger compared to other circuits where you can probably exit 10cm wider on the exit kerb.
“In Monaco, 10cm wider and you’re in the wall.”
