Romain Grosjean faces a five-place grid penalty for the German GP after a gearbox problem in FP3.
The Haas driver made a mistake at Turn 3 in final practice that resulted in him spinning off the track.
Although he kept the engine running, he reported a gearbox problem and crawled back to the pits with his VF16 stuck in fourth gear.
Haas confirmed the gearbox problem, tweet that a “gearbox change is in order.”
As such Grosjean will be slapped with an automatic five-place grid penalty.
