Haas have kicked-off 2022 launch season, retaining a livery based heavily on their design from the previous campaign.

There is great intrigue surrounding the 2022 challengers, the first to be designed to the all-new Formula 1 regulations, arguably the biggest regulatory shift between seasons in the history of the series.

And Haas have done the honours by being the first team to unveil the livery for their 2022 challenger, the VF-22.

The financial backing of Nikita Mazepin’s father Dmitry through Uralkali, Haas’ title sponsor, was invaluable to the team during their difficult 2021 campaign, with Dmitry apparently even paying for a new chassis for his son.

So, it is no surprise that the white, red and blue colour scheme, referencing the Russian flag, is retained. The logo of 1&1, another partner who joined Haas for the 2021 campaign, remains clearly displayed on the nose of the VF-22.

Looking from above, it is once again the branding of Uralkali and 1&1 which dominates the white, red and blue Haas. The team name is visible on the front of the rear wing.

On the back of the rear wing meanwhile it is Uralkali branding which dominates once more, with the 1&1 logo on the side. Haas and Uralkali will be hoping that the back of the rear wing has plenty of TV time this season, with Haas having lagged at the back of the pack in 2021.

I&1, IONOS and Uralkali have the pick of the action down the side, alongside the branding of with other backers of the Haas team which get a more discreet mention along the bottom of the side panel.

Mazepin and his team-mate Mick Schumacher are hoping for a far improved 2022 campaign, having finished without a point in 2021, instead spending their rookie campaigns trying to extract the best they could from the underdeveloped Haas VF-21.

Haas bypassed all development in order to focus fully on the VF-22, hoping that this will be the car which fires them back into contention for regular points.

It will be the first car designed under Haas’ new technical director Simone Resta, who is essentially ‘on loan’ from Ferrari, who supply Haas with their engines and have a deal in place to secure Schumacher’s seat with the team.
