Lewis Hamilton excused from French GP media duties.

Lewis Hamilton will not partake in media duties ahead of the French Grand Prix, instead he will attend a memorial event for fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld.

The Brit was scheduled to speak to the media on Thursday, but Mercedes have allowed him to travel to Le Castellet later so he can attend the memorial event dedicated to the fashion designer in Paris.

Hamilton has become increasingly involved with fashion over the past few years – he has recently launched clothing lines with Tommy Hilfiger.

Lagerfeld passed away in February aged 85, but major fashion rivals Fendi and Chanel have come together to create the tribute event for him in the French capital.

Pharrell Williams, Cara Delevingne and Gigi Hadidare among the big names expected to join Hamilton in attendance.

This is the second time in as many months that Hamilton has missed media duties, in May he was excused ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix following the death of Niki Lauda.
