Lewis Hamilton and former protagonist Sebastian Vettel have been paired up for the drivers’ press conference at the Imola Grand Prix.

Rather than sending the drivers out with their team-mates, as has been the norm since last season, Formula 1 is shaking things up this weekend.

And that means we get to see Hamilton and Vettel play off one another.

Since last season when the pandemic hit, Formula 1 has tried to keep the drivers in their respective bubbles as much as possible.

That meant team-mates faced the media together, not always resulting in the most interesting Thursdays for those waiting for a headline-worthy soundbite.

However, this weekend Imola is doing things a little different.

While the drivers will still face the media in twos for the Thursday press conferences, the teams have been mixed up.

Hamilton and former title rival Vettel have been paired together while Max Verstappen will share the stage with Haas rookie Mick Schumacher.

Kimi Raikkonen and Nikita Mazepin is another to keep an eye on, with neither known for mincing their words, while double former World Champion Fernando Alonso, once the great hope at McLaren, will be alongside McLaren’s new future, Lando Norris.

The Thursday driver press conferences begin at 2pm local time with Carlos Sainz and Sergio Perez kicking things off.
