Kevin Magnussen: Haas more stable than McLaren

Kevin Magnussen has said Haas are a “much more stable” team than McLaren and that has helped him get back to a “good level”.

Magnussen has been one of the more impressive drivers in the 2018 season so far, collecting 45 points which puts him P8 in the World Championship standings – seven points behind Nico Hulkenberg who is currently best of the rest.

K-Mag is just 11 more points away from surpassing his best-ever points total in Formula 1 and said that the positive atmosphere at Haas is creating the right environment for good results.

“Haas is much more stable as a team. Not only more simple, but very stable – you don’t get people on the way out or on the way in,” Magnussen said when asked to compare Haas‘ operation to McLaren‘s set-up.

“In the other teams, I saw a lot of people insecure about their positions in the team and worrying about that position. That creates a bad atmosphere and culture in the team.

“Here, there is a lot of stability – the management and most people here feel good and secure. We are under pressure, but it’s much more healthy kind of pressure.”

For the first time in his career, Magnussen feels settled at a team and that is bringing the best out of him.

He added: “My first couple of years in F1 were tumultuous. They were really messy, changing teams, having a year off and coming back in and struggling again with the team.

“Now I’ve found some consistency, a more consistent place to get into the whole thing again and building up. I feel like I’m back at a good level.”
