Kimi Raikkonen cannot seem to shake his long-running problem in how his drinking system works in his cars, and that was on show again in Turkey for Alfa Romeo.

One of the most popular viral clips of Formula 1 in recent seasons came at the 2018 Hungarian Grand Prix, when Raikkonen and his Ferrari engineer got lost in translation with each other when his drink pipe was disconnected, leaving him without hydration for the rest of the race.

“No, no, Kimi, no, you will not have the drink” has since become enshrined in Formula 1 folklore on social media, but his issues continued in practice on Friday at the Turkish Grand Prix.

“I have water running in my ****ing boots because your drinking system is leaking like ****,” Raikkonen fumed on team radio while out on track, which was then played on the world TV feed.

“How is it so ****ing difficult to do simple things correct?” Asked the 2007 World Champion in his garage, with his engineer replying: “Apparently the pump was not running, so maybe it’s leaking somewhere else.”

“Yeah, because I disconnected it!” Came the angry retort from the disgruntled driver.

“It kept leaking in my ****ing helmet, so I disconnected and now it’s like… I don’t know what the **** is happening.

“The most ****ing simple part of the whole car and we cannot ****ing fix it.”

After his issues in Hungary three years ago, Raikkonen again didn’t have access to his water during this season’s Monaco Grand Prix, after the pipe came loose during one of the most demanding races of the year.

As for Turkish Grand Prix practice, Raikkonen was left down in P15 in the second session on Friday after his running was hampered with his drink issue, while Alfa Romeo team-mate Antonio Giovinazzi was up in P10.

Will somebody please just give Kimi the drink?!

Could Piastri, not Zhou, drive for Alfa Romeo next season?

With Guanyu Zhou apparently demanding too long a contract, Alfa Romeo could turn to Oscar Piastri but such a move seems unlikely.
