Robert Kubica: Talking to Ferrari

Robert Kubica has confirmed that “conversations” have taken place with Ferrari about becoming their development driver next season.

Reports emerged earlier this week that joining the Scuderia was a ‘Plan B’ option for the Pole if he ultimately fails in his latest attempt to return to the grid with Williams.

Kubica has confirmed that he has been in contact with Ferrari, but nothing has been agreed just yet.

“Maybe,” Kubica said about the possibility of joining Ferrari.

“There are conversations. If there is a chance to wear red overalls even for a short test, then for me one of the biggest dreams of my life comes true.

“I’ve been close to it once, but I did not get there because of my accident.

“I’m not saying it’s happening, but if there’s a chance, I will think about it.”

Kubica has said he is still prioritising a full-time drive in Formula 1 but wants the right move to seal what would be a long journey back to the top.

“It would be nice to be able to race next year, but the comeback would have to be right,” Kubica told Auto Motor und Sport.

“I don’t want to force anything.

“It should be the reward for a long journey. It’s got to be about the environment and the people I work with.”
