Williams' situation can still get worse warns Rob Smedley.

Robert Kubica is reportedly leaning towards a Haas test driver role for 2020 with the American team offering him a few Friday practice runs.

Last month Kubica announced that his brief stint racing for Williams would conclude at the end of this season.

But with 2020 seats filling up fast, Kubica’s chances of racing in Formula 1 are slim.

As such the Polish driver is looking for a test driver role but one that offers track time.

Haas’ offer is said to do just that.

According to RaceFans.net, Kubica would take part in a ‘limited number of Friday practice sessions’ with his sponsor, Petrochemical firm PKN Orlen, swapping Williams for Haas.

The 34-year-old is also considering race in another series.

“It will a lot depend how busy and what I would be doing next year,” he said.

“Let’s wait a bit to see the outcome of what would be possible for me next year from a racing point of view and then we’ll see.

“If I am not racing somewhere it would be my decision.

“I’m pretty confident that if I want to race I will be racing somewhere.”
