Racing Point’s Lance Stroll will donate $1,800 to the LA Fire Department for each point he scores at the Belgian Grand Prix.

The major fires which continue to ravage the state of California have been declared a major disaster. Seven people are reported to have died, while over 100,000 have been ordered to evacuate their homes.

And Stroll is ready to do his part in the battle. Taking inspiration from his racing number 18, he will donate $1,800 to the LA Fire Department for every point which he scores at the Belgian Grand Prix alongside an extra donation.

This past week has been a time of reflection for me. It’s devastating to see what’s happening in California. Millions of animals are at risk and over a hundred thousand people have evacuated their homes. I will be raising money through the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, to help now as the fires begin to worsen through the week and they will need our help now more than ever. I myself, will be donating to the LAFD Foundation, as well as for every point I score this weekend In the Belgian Grand Prix, I will be donating $1800.00. I sincerely hope that we can all come together and contribute towards this cause, everything counts as we can make a difference. Please share this with your peers and others as this is a time to come together. Link in Bio

Hopes are high that Stroll will secure a good finishing position to bump up the donation amount as much as possible.

The Canadian driver has already scored 40 points this season, putting him P5 in the Drivers’ Championship, and Racing Point are expected to be strong with that Mercedes engine around the high-speed Spa-Francorchamps circuit.

26 points would be the absolute maximum that Stroll could score if he won the race and claimed a bonus point for fastest lap, meaning a donation of up to $46,800 through this initiative is possible.
