McLaren’s Lando Norris certainly has introduced fans to a whole new world of social media in F1, and he feel it’s very important to do.
Norris, the youngest driver on the grid at 20 years of age, can nearly always be found on social media and has a seemingly endless catalogue of memes that he shares with his followers.
In total Norris has over one million followers when combining his Twitter and Instagram accounts, while he is also active on the streaming channel Twitch.
And at a time where F1 is trying to attract a younger audience, Norris thinks his use of social media is important to give fans the kind of behind-the-scenes insight which no other driver currently does.

Speaking at Autosport International 2020, he said: “I’ve grown up within this, and I’ve always been on social media since I was a little kid, too early maybe for what I should have done.
“It’s part of my life, giving you guys and fans and whoever is at home a better behind-the-scenes, a better knowledge of what a Formula 1 driver does, how they act, what they get up to and so on.
“That’s just what I want to do, just enjoy it, and give people something that they don’t see with many other drivers.
“With streaming on Twitch and just people watching me at home playing on a simulator or playing games or whatever, no other driver does that.
“So it’s just to show what I love doing, to give people a better insight of what I get up to, and I hope they like it.”
Norris finished his debut season P11 in the Drivers’ Championship, picking up an impressive 49 points.
He also beat team-mate Carlos Sainz 11-10 in the qualifying head-to-head for 2019.
