Liberty Media are not giving up on plans for a second United States grand prix despite Miami falling through.
For the past two years all the talk regarded calendar expansion was around Miami joining the calendar.
The plan was to hold a grand prix on the streets of the city from 2019 onward with that then pushed back to 2020. Liberty even revealing a layout for the track.
Those plans, though, fell apart when local authorities balked at the idea.
Liberty, however, are still keen on a second US race, it just may not be in Miami.
F1 boss Chase Carey told Speed Week: “The plan is to have a second race in the US. But we are not just dealing with Miami, even if we are convinced that it would be a great project.
“The negotiations are going on. When it comes to street circuits there are many interests that need to come together and it takes time.
“The fan festival [held before the Austin GP] helped, everyone thought the event was great. It was a positive step towards the race.”
