McLaren’s classy gesture to bullied 10-year-old fan

McLaren principal Andreas Seidl needs both drivers in the points.

McLaren say they, along with Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo, have got a 10-year-old fan covered after bullies stole his McLaren hat.

A post on Twitter went viral after a mother shared a picture of her son with cuts and bruises to his face following a bullying incident. The bullies took and stamped on his McLaren hat which she said was one of his ‘favourite things’.

But, there is thankfully some good news to come as, with help of the Formula 1 community, the McLaren social media team have now seen the post and are preparing something special for him.

“To all the kind and wonderful fans out there who have supported this strong young man, we just want to let you know that, together with Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo, we’ve got him covered,” McLaren posted.

“Bullying is a scourge and we stand with you all against it.”

Ricciardo himself took the time to message the fan as well, saying: “Sorry to hear this, but don’t stress buddy.

“Makes you look tough! Bullies are the weak ones, don’t forget that. I’ll sort you out with a new hat and some other goodies. Stay up lil homie.”

Massive respect to McLaren for doing this. A really, really, nice touch.
