George Russell may be loving, or regretting the pose he chose for Formula 1’s opening titles right now as the Mercedes admin have been having some fun.

In recent days Russell has already found himself getting a great deal of attention on social media, that coming as part of the fallout to the Fernando Alonso podium saga in Saudi Arabia.

Initially Alonso was stripped of his P3 finish after being hit with a 10-second time penalty post-race, that after the rear jack man had allegedly touched Alonso’s Aston Martin AMR23 before the five seconds of an original penalty were served.

Alonso took part in the podium celebrations then, but the trophy made its way down to Mercedes and Russell who inherited P3, only temporarily though.

Later Alonso would be reinstated to the podium for the 100th time in his career after Aston Martin won their appeal, but with the drivers having already left the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, Alonso had to take to social media to post a hilarious response to Russell’s P3 celebratory tweet, asking for his trophy back.

The funny banter continued between that pair until Mercedes made the short drive from Brackley to Silverstone to return that P3 trophy to Alonso’s Aston Martin team.

Prior to that Mercedes had also got in on the social media antics, giving Russell’s trophy picture a makeover to reflect his return to P4, and it seems they decided that the Russell memes were a little too fun to move on from just yet.

So, Russell’s pose from the F1 2023 opening titles, where he is leant with both hands pressed up either side of a wall, was the inspiration for the Mercedes guys to have some fun.

There really are some great efforts among those, so we will leave you with the decision on which Mercedes Russell meme wins this battle.

At least the team’s on-track struggles have not dampened the mood too much in Brackley and Brixworth, with Russell’s P4 in Saudi Arabia their best result of the opening two races as Mercedes look to work their way back into title contention.
