Williams driver, Nicholas Latifi, has revealed why he has chosen the number six to race with in the upcoming 2020 Formula 1 campaign.

Latifi, the only rookie on the Formula 1 grid this season, was the last driver who needed to pick a number – but was in no rush to do so after being confirmed as one half of Williams’ driver line-up last November.

But, the wait is finally over, and the Canadian will be racing with the number six. Via Williams’ social media channels, he explained his reasons behind the decision.

“I decided to choose the number six because I’m from Toronto and Toronto is known as the six,” Latifi said.

“Basically because if you’re from there, your area code for your phone number is either 416 or 647. It’s a bit silly but it kinda stuck.”

“I just finished with the simulator now here at Williams. I thought before I leave I could make it a bit more homey for the next time I come back in.”

The number six was previously used by the retired 2016 World Champion, Nico Rosberg.
