Norris and Sainz in F3 action at Silverstone

Andrea Stella sees elements of Michael Schumacher in Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris.

Lando Norris and Carlos Sainz are getting more laps under their belts by testing Carlin F3 cars at a wet Silverstone track.

McLaren’s upcoming change in engine suppliers from Renault to Mercedes has left them a little hindered in their latest pre-season preparations as it is believed the Enstone team would not give McLaren an additional power unit to work with.

Instead, Norris, and now team-mate Sainz have been using Carlin F3 cars to get back into the driving groove.

McLaren posted from a very wet Silverstone circuit early on Thursday morning.

And Norris himself posted from the circuit.

We were just waiting for some rooster tail shots to come and thankfully McLaren did not disappoint.

The McLaren drivers are not the only ones back at work on Thursday as Daniil Kvyat was at the AlphaTauri factory for his seat fit.

They follow in the footsteps of Racing Point, who also had a filming day on Wednesday.

The likes of Mercedes and Renault, meanwhile, have had the luxury of private two-day tests at Silverstone and the Red Bull Ring respectively, albeit in two-year-old cars.

And, at Ferrari, Charles Leclerc officially kick-started Ferrari’s season again in typically grandiose fashion by taking the SF1000 on a historic run through the streets of Maranello.
