2019 driver line-up brings a different dynamic says Otmar Szafnauer.

Racing Point chief Otmar Szafnauer believes the ‘different dynamic’ between drivers Sergio Perez and Lance Stroll is benefiting the team.

Stroll made the switch to Racing Point from Williams for 2019, after his father’s consortium purchased the bankrupt Force India team and went on to re-brand them into the current Racing Point entry.

He would replace Mercedes junior Estaban Ocon as Sergio Perez’s partner – the Mexican driver has been with the team since 2014.

Both Perez and Stroll have already scored points in 2019, and Szafnauer is pleased with how their partnership has begun.

“It is a different dynamic. It’s good,” Szafnauer told Crash.net.

“It’s different for many reasons, but it’s very good. They share work together, try to get the best out of the car.”

Stroll spent most of 2018 at the back of the grid as part of the struggling Williams team, but now armed with better machinery, Szafnauer believes the 20-year-old will only improve further.

“He’s good,” Szafnauer said. “We can teach him some stuff. And it’s one of those things where with experience you learn.

“He’s young. He’s 20 years old. And with a couple of years he’ll only get better and better at this.

“He’s very good, very talented. Great feedback, he knows what he likes with the car, and he’s a good driver.”
