Kimi Raikkonen reminded reporters that he doesn’t get excited after he finished P6 in both free practice sessions.
However, the Finn remains slightly unhappy with the C38’s balance and hopes to see improvements come qualifying on Saturday.
“I think generally there were no issues, everything ran pretty smoothly,” he told the official F1 website.
“For sure we can improve on the set-up side, but hopefully we get it a bit better for tomorrow.”
Unlike several others on track, Raikkonen didn’t report a noticeable difference in the car between short and long runs.
“No, not much [difference],” he explained.
“Obviously when you’re on new tyres it’s always going to feel a bit nicer than the used tyres, but overall it was okay.”
When asked if the Alfa’s early performance had got him excited, Raikkonen quickly pulled out the pin to pop that balloon.
“I don’t get excited. I think the issue is more with your side,” he smiled.
“We will see where we are in qualifying, try to improve here and there, and what we get is what we get.”
