Alex Albon’s P5 finish in the Hungarian Grand Prix is official after Red Bull were cleared of artificially drying his grid box.
That other Red Bull being Albon, who started down in P13 after an error from the team contributed to him being left without a traffic-free lap to get out Q2.
The Thai driver put in a solid drive to finish P5, though that result was initially in doubt after Red Bull were placed under investigation for reportedly artificially drying his pit box at the start of the Hungarian Grand Prix following earlier rain.
Doing that is forbidden in Formula 1, but the team have been cleared after the Stewards confirmed that they “came to the conclusion that the competitor did not attempt to alter the grip of the track surface.”

With that result Albon rises to P5 in the Drivers’ Championship after three rounds, whilst team-mate Max Verstappen is up to P3 after he split the Mercedes with a P2 finish at the Hungaroring.
