Red Bull have confirmed that Mexican insurance broker INTERprotección will become an official partner for 2021.
The pair first linked up in 2018 as part of a three-race deal covering the US, Mexican and Brazilian Grands Prix. Max Verstappen took victory that year in Mexico in front of the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez crowd.
INTERprotección branding will appear on both the race suits of Verstappen and new team-mate Sergio Perez for the 2021 campaign, as well as other assets.
“A few years ago, they became our first Mexican partner and we’re very proud to have them alongside us for what promises to be a fascinating 2021 season.
“We have always enjoyed a strong following in Latin America and with the addition of Checo to our line-up we are, of course, drawing more support than ever from Mexico. It’s an exciting time for us to have a brand like INTERprotección on board.”
Juan Ignacio Casanueva, chairman of the board and CEO at INTERprotección, added: “We are honored to be partners with Red Bull Racing. We share with the team the passion of taking on challenges and turning them into opportunities and triumphs, and 2021 is the perfect year to evolve our strategic alliance.
“We are sure that along with Checo Pérez, whom we have championed these last 10 years, we will achieve many victories and affirm our leaderships in our own arenas.”
Perez arrives at Red Bull for 2021 with the task of helping lift the team into title contention. Verstappen has proven too much for his past two team-mates Pierre Gasly and Alex Albon, so Perez is clear that it will be a “challenge” for him to control the Dutchman.
“It’s a big challenge,” he said on the Talking Bull podcast.
“We all know how talented he is, how fast he is, how much he has grown in the past years and how complete he is right now. He’s definitely one of the best, one of the fastest if not the fastest on the current grid.
“It’s a massive challenge, he’s been here a long time, knows what he needs from the car. I look forward to working with him.”
