Two more Renault Sport drivers quarantined

Renault has announced that its Academy director as well as two more ddrivers have been quarantined.

The Renault Sport team was attending a winter training camp in Tenerife when another guest in theor hotel fell ill with the coronavirus.

As a result Academy director Mia Sharizman together with drivers Caio Collet and Hadrien David are being kept in quarantined.

Renault said on Twitter: “Local health authorities have conducted checks and none are demonstrating any sign of the virus.

“Everyone is fit and continuing training within the hotel facilities.

“They would like to express their gratitude to the hotel for its support to make them feel as comfortable as possible.”

Last week Renault Sport announced that Formula 2 driver Christian Lundgaard would not attend this week’s Bahrain test after being quarantined in his hotel in Tenerife.

To date 88,000 global cases of the coronavirus have been reported with nearly 3,000 deaths.

The virus has spread to 57 countries, leading to the cancellation of sporting events around the world.

On Monday MotoGP announced that the premier class would not race in Qatar while hours later the Thailand round of the championship was postponed.

Formula 1 has already postponed the Chinese GP while the Vietnam race is a big question mark.
