Ricciardo backs Rosberg to seal first title

Daniel Ricciardo thinks Nico Rosberg will deserve his first Formula One world title if he seals the championship at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
If Hamilton wins the race then Rosberg only needs a podium finish to make sure of his title with the Brit trailing the German by 12 points in the standings.
And Ricciardo, who is looking to get onto the podium for the first time in six outings, reckons Rosberg has shown enough throughout the season to be a worthy champion.
“Rosberg has won a lot of races this year and started the season really strong and after the mid-season break he had a really strong run as well,” Ricciardo told Speedcafe.
“I think everyone has thought Hamilton is quicker and it is probably hard to question that, but I think Rosberg has done well this year to be in his position.”
Meanwhile, Ricciardo has already confirmed his third place in the championship and will be hoping to finish on a high at the Yas Marina Circuit.
The Australian will return in 2017 hoping for an even more competitive season from the Red Bulls as they look to close the gap on the Mercedes drivers.
“Next year, if the cars are as quick as they say they are, it going to be pretty intense,” he said.
