Williams extend ROKiT for a further two years

Former Williams sponsor Rokit, who left the British team earlier this year, is expected to head to Mercedes for the 2020 season.

The phone manufacturer became Williams’ title sponsor at the start of the 2019 season. Halfway through it, it was announced that they had signed a new deal to remain so until 2023.

However, in late May, Williams revealed that the two parties had severed ties and split. At the same time, they announced that they were looking to sell the team. It is rumoured that they are looking to take legal action against Rokit for the abrupt end to the partnership.

Following the announcement, Rokit clarified that they remained committed to maintaining other partnerships in Motorsport.

Now, reports heavily suggest that Mercedes are set to be sponsored by the company for the 2020 season. In fact, Rokit logos could be seen on the silver arrows as soon as the Austrian Grand Prix next week.

“We’re absolutely shocked that a team with whom we have a long-standing relationship has signed Rokit, particularly as it is well known what happened,” RaceFans were told by a source from Williams.

Rokit will be another name added to the list of Mercedes sponsors that already includes Petronas, Monster, INEOS and Bose.
