Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris relationship is the stuff of memes but also respect with the Spaniard hailing his team-mate’s response to his Brazilian GP podium.
Sainz finished third at the Interlagos circuit, claiming McLaren’s first podium since 2014.
It was also the former Renault driver’s maiden F1 podium, beating Norris to the feat.
The Brit, though, celebrated every moment of his team-mate’s success.
Sainz admits he was impressed.
“I must say Lando behaved like a gentleman the whole day, he put a smile on his face even though I’m sure it was not entirely easy,” Sainz told Motorsport.com.
“But he was genuinely happy for the team, happy for me, and it’s something nice to see.
“True gentleman, even though he looks like a kid!
“It felt good, I think as good as it can get, because a podium starting last you never expect it.
“But honestly, this year we have been so many times best of the rest, that if the only race that something happens at the front I wouldn’t have got the podium, I would’ve been really, really angry.”
