Vettel surprised himself with Eifel GP spin

Sebastian Vettel can't explain Eifel GP spin.
Sebastian Vettel didn’t have an explanation for his unforced spin at the Eifel Grand Prix while following Antonio Giovinazzi.
On Lap 11, Vettel lost control of his Ferrari on the run down to Turn 1 as he followed Giovinazzi in the Alfa Romeo, sending the four-time World Champion into a half-spin.
But it was more than enough to heavily flat-spot Vettel’s tyres, forcing him to pit.
Speaking to Sky F1 about the spin, Vettel said: “I was very surprised, I don’t know exactly what happened.
“I guess crossing behind him, I lost the car when I was in his wake.
“I was lucky to carry on but the tyres were flat-spotted.”

2020 has been a dismal year for Vettel and the Eifel Grand Prix was no improvement.
He would go on to finish the race in P11 just outside the points, and said overtakes proved hard to come by, and not for the first time this season.
“The main difficulty was to pass people, I think we were a little bit faster than where we were,” he admitted.
“It wasn’t the first race where we got stuck, but it’s a shame that we didn’t take any points back.”
Vettel remains P13 in the Drivers’ Championship with 17 points.
He is three ahead of AlphaTauri’s Daniil Kvyat, while Nico Hulkenberg, who has only contested two grands prix for Racing Point this season, is seven points adrift of Vettel in P15.
