Still the youngest driver to ever win a World title, Sebastian Vettel says that “doesn’t matter”, his only goal was to win a championship.
At 32 years of age, Vettel still holds ‘youngest’ records in Formula 1.
He was the sport’s youngest pole position winner, claiming that at 21 years and 72 days when he qualified P1 at the Italian Grand Prix. A feat he achieved driving for Toro Rosso.
A day later he became the youngest grand prix winner but has since lost that record to Max Verstappen.
He does, however, still have the big one for youngest.
At 23 years and 134 days, Vettel claimed his first of four Drivers’ Championships when he won the 2010 crown with Red Bull.
He, however, insists it is not a record that matters, he just wanted a title.
“I think the youngest doesn’t matter,” he said.
“I think winning a championship has always been the thing I wanted to achieve.
“Obviously the moment you drive in F1 you want to compete at the front.”

10 years after achieving his first World title, the Ferrari driver is considering his future, not only with Ferrari but also in Formula 1.
Vettel is out of contract with the Scuderia at the end of this year with Sky Italia reporting that he has been offered a one-year extension but one that comes with a massive pay cut.
Former F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone has urged the German to either walk away from Ferrari, and go to McLaren, or quit F1 entirely.
Vettel, though, says there is still nothing like driving an F1 car.
“I love the speed,” he said, “I love the sensation in the car.
“I’ve tried lots of things but I haven’t found anything that gives me as much as putting on the helmet, getting into the car and trying to come out on top.
“Driving a Formula 1 car feels like something you want to do again, and straight away.
“I’m not sure if I do smile but I feel like I’m smiling when I drive the car.”
