Perez to receive upgrades for Eifel GP

Sergio Perez will either race for Red Bull in 2021 or not race at all.
Sergio Perez will receive the upgrades Lance Stroll’s car has been running for the past two races at the Eifel Grand Prix.
Racing Point brought considerable updates to the Tuscan Grand Prix, with Stroll handed them.
The original plan was for Perez to receive them too for the next race in Russia, but that went out the window when his team-mate crashed and hugely damaged his car during the race at Mugello.
As a result of having to do repairs, the team only had enough time to prepare one set of the upgrades, and with Checo leaving at the end of the year, Stroll was again handed them.
After the race at Sochi, in which Perez finished P4 nonetheless, the Mexican stated that he was optimistic he’d have the package for the next race in Germany.
“I have a better car and I think people can see that a bit more now,” he said.
“Hopefully now at the Nurburgring, I get the upgrade on the car and then we can show even more.”

It now seems that he’s got his wish, with motorsportweek.com reporting that Racing Point has managed to ready a package for his RP20 in the last two weeks.
The team believe it to make the car around three tenths quicker per lap, but it’s unclear if this is the case given that Stroll retired from both of the last two races and had overheating issues during qualifying in Russia.
Regardless, it will be a welcome boost to Perez, who is just one point behind his team-mate in the Driver’s Standings and will be keen to finish the season ahead of him.
Both drivers will need to perform if the team is to secure its first-ever top-three finish in the Constructors’ Standings. With seven races to go, McLaren is currently two points ahead in the fight for P3, with Renault just five behind.
