Sergio Perez has taken to the road in in America in his Red Bull, as he made the trip to Miami for a first taste of the new circuit.

The Mexican took in the sights and sounds of New York while driving the Red Bull RB7, while being helped on his way by Miami Dolphins player Byron Jones, and barefoot water skier Parks Bonifay through Florida’s Everglades on his way to Hard Rock Stadium.

He was able to do a first lap of the track, still under construction at that time and is now ’95 per cent complete’ according to circuit organisers, while also taking a blast across the NFL team’s pitch and wheelspinning through the car park at the home of the Dolphins.

“I loved taking part in my first Red Bull road trip,” he said. “I remember seeing the one of Daniel [Ricciardo] crossing the Golden Gate Bridge [in San Francisco] and never thought I would get the chance to be part of it.

“I think Miami is the perfect place for Formula 1, it’s a very fun city and there’s a good energy there. The track is looking awesome and I can’t wait to see all the fans there. Austin always feels like a home race for me and I think Miami will be similar.”

Perez’s trip is the latest in a long line of Red Bull’s travels across different countries, having driven on the roads of the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and South Africa in the recent past.
