Sergio Perez has thanked the staff of Red Bull for their efforts in 2022 by gifting all 1,400 of them a bottle of tequila.

The Mexican enjoyed the most successful season of his career so far as he doubled his win tally and finished in an all-time high position of third in the Drivers’ standings.

He also helped Red Bull secure their first Constructors’ Championship since 2013 by securing 305 of their 759-point total.

To say thanks to the staff at the team’s base in Milton Keynes, Perez gave each of them a bottle of Patron tequila from his native Mexico.

Each bottle came in a gift bag with a note from Perez to the team.

“Thank you for all of your hard work and support this season,” Perez said. “I’m so proud to be part of the Red Bull family. Wishing you a wonderful holiday.

“Enclosed, please enjoy a bottle of the number one super premium tequila in the world, Patron tequila.

“Looking forward to next season. Salud! Checo Perez.”

It was not a faultless season for Perez though with clashes with team-mate Max Verstappen as well as missing out on P2 in the standings to Charles Leclerc in the final race of the year proving to be lowlights.

Following the FIA prize giving gala, where Perez received his third place trophy, he was back at Red Bull’s Milton Keynes base along with World Champion Verstappen for an event to celebrate the team’s success over the 2022 season with fans.

Whilst there, the Mexican was asked his thoughts on Daniel Ricciardo who has returned to the team to be third driver for 2023.

Following the announcement of the Australian’s move, there were rumours that Perez’s seat could be in danger but the Mexican dismissed the speculation, saying he was “pretty relaxed” about Ricciardo’s return.

“I’m pretty relaxed,” Perez told Sky Sports.

“I mean, we live under a lot of pressure all the time. It doesn’t change anything from my side, I think it’s a great achievement for the team to have a driver like Daniel and he’s going to contribute a lot to our team.

“He’s a great guy, he’s one of the guys that I get on [with] the most in the paddock, so I think it’s just great to have Daniel in the team, and from my side doesn’t change anything.”
