Sebastian Vettel believes that all six drivers from the top three teams can be World Champion in 2019, himself included.
The Ferrari driver finished a minute down on the Australian Grand Prix winner Valtteri Bottas, but with another 20 races to go, Vettel sees himself, his team-mate Charles Leclerc and Red Bull’s duo as serious threats to Lewis Hamilton’s crown.
The German is looking to end a 12-year Championship drought for the Scuderia, but knows five other challengers will be eyeing the title.
“I can only speak for myself, but I think there are three large teams again and all those teams have enough potential to take the world title this year,” Vettel told the Express.
“We look at ourselves first and we are hopefully faster than everyone else, but I think it will be very tight.”
However, Vettel believes the young Frenchman’s performance was far better than the result he achieved.
“I think that Pierre had a little bad luck” added Vettel.
“I think he did no worse than Max Verstappen seen over the entire weekend.
“I think that all six drivers of the top teams will get involved in the fight.
“Hopefully, we can continue to fight as long as possible to make the decision later in the season.”
