Sergio Perez concedes SportPesa Racing Point need to resolve their “balance and load” issues if they want to challenge for best of the rest this season.
The team’s 2019 campaign is off to a steady but somewhat slow start.
While both Perez and his team-mate Lance Stroll have bagged points, their best showing is Perez’s P6 from the Azerbaijan GP, a race that last season he finished on the podium.
The Mexican driver admits Racing Point are still struggling to get the most out of their Mercedes-powered RP19 with team trialing various upgrades aimed at resolving balance issues.
Perez explained to Autosport: “It’s balance and load, those two things are the biggest things.
“I think tyres, we are working quite well with them.
“But it is more the balance and load at the moment that we really trying to make better.”
After seven races, Racing Point are sixth in the Constructors’ Championship with 19 points, 11 behind fourth-placed McLaren.
