SportPesa Racing Point are hoping to turn their fortunes around with the arrival of a virtually new car before the summer break kicks in.

The Silverstone-based team have scored just two points since round four in Azerbaijan and currently find themselves down in P7 in the Constructors’ standings, level on points with Toro Rosso.

But, they are not giving up on the season just yet and are hoping a new B-spec car can propel them firmly back into the heart of  the midfield battle.

“Everything except the chassis is new. Previously, an upgrade like this would not have been possible,” Green told Auto Motor und Sport.

Otmar Szafnauer, CEO and team principal of SportPesa Racing Point, added that a batch of aerodynamic parts will be tested out in Germany.

He said: “This weekend sees the arrival of some aero development items as we continue our push to bring performance to the track. We will use Friday for testing to hopefully unlock more speed from the car.”

Sergio Perez, meanwhile, provided the fighting talk and also believes the team have been the victims of continued bad luck.

“I hope Germany will be a turning point in our season,” Perez added in the team’s official preview.

“I’ve been unlucky lately, especially in Silverstone last week where we deserved to get a decent result.

“I believe we can make some good steps with the car before the summer break and hopefully our luck will change too.

“I believe in the work we are doing and I know it’s just a matter of time until we get back to where we belong – scoring points.”
