Lance Stroll taking F1 future 'weekend by weekend'

Linked to a move to Force India, the team owned by his father, Lance Stroll insists he’ll give all he can every weekend no matter the car he’s driving.

The Canadian is believed to be heading to Force India in the future, it is just a matter of when.

Stroll could make the move this season, even as early as the next race on the calendar, the Singapore GP.

Speaking about the possible driver changes, Williams deputy team boss Claire Williams told Sky Sports: “There are quite a lot of hoops that we’ve all still got to jump through around the [Force India] sale in particular.

“Once that’s happened I think then things will start moving. I don’t think we’ll see a change before Singapore certainly.”

The 19-year-old has come in for some criticism over the potential move as it could yet cost Esteban Ocon a place on the Formula 1 grid.

Stroll responded to his critics with a ninth-place at the Italian Grand Prix, only his second top-ten result of this season.

And while the driver was happy to be in the points on Sunday, even then the main question was about his future.

“We will see what the future holds,” he said. “I’m just taking it weekend by weekend.

“When I put my helmet on, I’m a racing driver and whatever car I’m in, I’m just trying to get the most out of it.

“It’s been a challenging year. For us a team we are definitely not where we want to be.

“We have to enjoy a day like Sunday. They haven’t come often this year.

“We definitely have to digest this good result and go to Singapore with a positive attitude.”
