Dan Ticktum lands F2 drive for 2020 with DAMS.

Former Red Bull prospect Dan Ticktum will compete in F2 next season for DAMS alongside Sean Gelael.

The British driver will make his F2 debut with DAMS in 2020 – the team who took Nicholas Latifi to P2 in the Championship this season.

A two-time Macau Grand Prix winner, Ticktum was dropped from the Red Bull programme earlier this year after a disappointing stint in the Super Formula series, but now he will get the chance to put his career back on track as part of the reigning F2 teams’ champions DAMS.

Both Ticktum and Gelael will feature for the French outfit at this week’s post-season F2 test in Abu Dhabi.

Speaking about the news, as quoted by Crash.net, Ticktum said: “It’s an honour to be joining DAMS in Formula 2 for the 2020 season. Having competed with them in GP3 in 2017, I’m looking forward to being back with the team and continuing to build on those successes.

“By winning the teams’ title this year, DAMS has again shown that they are one of the best outfits out there. François and his team have a reputation in the Formula 1 paddock for producing top drivers as well as for offering them the best support to get them to F1.

“I can’t wait to get started later this week in Abu Dhabi.”
