Valtteri Bottas now "even more ready" for season-opener.

Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas says he is “even more ready” to go racing in 2020 than he was ahead of the original season-opener in Melbourne.

Albert Park was set to mark the start of the 2020 campaign in its original spot, but after the event was cancelled Formula 1 went into an extended break.

It was far from ideal for Bottas, especially since he has aspirations of finally denying team-mate Lewis Hamilton in the pursuit of World Championship glory.

But, the Finn was ready and raring to go back then, and that feeling has only grown now with the new season-opener, the Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring, now under a week away.

Speaking in a video with Mercedes’ sponsor Petronas, he said: “I was as ready as I could be for the start of the season at Melbourne.

“But things kind of just got delayed a bit.

“It’s been a few months, I’ve had to do the same process, it’s been a good few months of being able to make myself stronger physically and mentally.

“I’ve been doing lots of fun things that keep me happy but at the same time working hard.

“I feel like it’s been a nice balance of time off and working for my dream, so feel even more ready than I was in Melbourne.”
