Video: Mick Schumacher on the family legacy
Mick Schumacher says Formula 1 is “still my goal” following his first victory in the Formula 3 European Championship.
Mick, the son of Michael Schumacher, won his first Formula Three race a week ago on the famed Spa-Francorchamps track where his father won his first F1 race in 1992.
Racing for Prema Theodore Racing, the 19-year-old recently spoke to Mobil 1 The Grid after his F1 aspirations.
“To be honest, here I’m a bit more focused on what I’m doing on track, so I don’t really notice it too much,” he said of the attention he receives.
“For sure, my goal was always F1, and it’s still my goal. Now we’re doing one step after the other. I’m looking forward to it.”
On the Schumacher legacy, and his family’s history at Spa, he said: “I have only good memories of Spa. As everybody knows, this is, let’s say, the living room of my dad. I really like and love racing here, because I know that he raced here as well. I’m always happy to be here and every year to come back here.”
