Carlos Sainz wants two-year deal, irrespective of team

Carlos Sainz may be heir apparent to Daniel Ricciardo’s Red Bull race seat but he’s not the only driver waiting in the wings.

Red Bull are on the hunt for a new driver for next season after Renault announced Ricciardo as Nico Hulkenberg’s 2019 team-mate.

Sainz, placed with Renault this season, has 30 points for the French manufacturer as he has found life a little difficult up against Nico Hulkenberg.

The German, who has 52 points, is winning their qualifying head-to-head.

As such Sainz could yet lose out to Pierre Gasly.

The Frenchman has shown as a Toro Rosso driver this season, bagging 26 of the team’s 28 points including a best result of P4 at the Bahrain GP.

Who would you like to see partner Max Verstappen next season?
