Racing Point's 2020 model wouldn't work for Williams.

After only leaving the pits midway through the third day of last year’s pre-season testing, Williams had cause for celebrations on Monday as the FW43 had an early shakedown run.

George Russell put the newly-unveiled FW43 through its paces at the Circuit de Catalunya.

Last season Williams missed the start of pre-season testing due to a delayed build of the FW42.

That not only put the team on the back foot it also marked the end of tech chief Paddy Lowe’s days at the team.

Williams scored just one point in 2019.

This season the former World Champions are already off to a better start with Russell laying down the laps on Monday morning.

Rookie racer Nicholas Latifi will drive the car later in the day.

Williams, though, wasn’t the only team in action at the Spanish circuit with Renault and Haas also putting in their first laps of 2020.

The trio will be joined by their rivals on Wednesday when pre-season testing gets underway.
