Wolff expects ‘very strong Ferrari’ at Spa and Monza

Sebastian Vettel in action
Expect Ferrari to be “in the conversation” in terms of race wins at the upcoming Belgian and Italian Grands Prix. That’s the view from Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff.
The Scuderia were nowhere to be found in the final race before the summer break in Hungary as Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc were more than a minute behind winner Lewis Hamilton.
It means Ferrari are still winless after 12 races this season with Mercedes securing 10 victories and Max Verstappen and Red Bull winning the other two.
But things can change quickly in F1 as performances are often track related and Wolff feels the SF90 will be well suited to Spa and Monza.
“It’s a track that probably doesn’t suit them very well,” he is quoted by Autosport as saying about Ferrari’s performance in Hungary.
“They have a very strong engine and less drag, and that’s why we will see a very strong Ferrari in Spa and in Monza.
“I have no doubt that the conversation could be totally different than the one we’re having right now.”
And Wolff admits the Mercs could struggle at Spa.
“It’s going to be difficult for us and that’s why it’s about enjoying the moment and starting [last week] we have to sort out our problems in order to be competitive at Spa,” he added.
