With the Belgian Grand Prix on the horizon, this F1 quiz takes us back to a landmark moment in Formula 1 history.

At the age of 22, one Michael Schumacher officially made his Formula 1 debut at the 1991 Belgian Grand Prix, representing Jordan after regular driver Bertrand Gachot was arrested back in the UK.

He gave us all an early glimpse of his supreme talent by qualifying P7 on the Spa grid but, his debut would unfortunately end very quickly after his clutch failed just after Eau Rouge on the first lap.

Schumacher was not the only one to be plagued by reliability gremlins on that momentous day, in fact, he was one of 13 drivers who all had to retire from the race.

This brings us neatly on to the other 13 drivers who did manage to finish the 1991 Belgian Grand Prix – but even two of those also had reliability problems but had completed enough laps to classify!

We’ve put five minutes on the clock for you to name as many drivers as you can. Surnames will suffice, and to help you in the right direction, we’ve given you the teams they were representing at the time.

Some very memorable names here, some not so…

When you are done with this quiz, why not test your F1 knowledge on another German driver in the form of Nico Hulkenberg.

There is also our daily F1 Wordle game – Sportword – where every day we have a new mystery F1 term for you to crack.

Before we tempt you elsewhere, though, here is the 1991 Belgian Grand Prix quiz…

Good luck!
